What FonoBeat does with your child’s time

A language app for children is judged on three things: what it does with the time you give it, what it tells you afterwards and what it keeps quiet. This page answers all three, with numbers you can check.

The session: between 15 and 25 minutes, in five steps

A lesson is not “putting a song on”. It is five chained steps — listen, vocabulary, play, sing and the Challenge — on the same song. That chaining is what turns 15 minutes of screen into 15 minutes of practice.

The repetition: 5.9 re-encounters per word

Every new word comes back, on average, in 5.9 LATER lessons — not inside the same song, which would be repeating for the sake of it. Each lesson introduces 3.2 new words and recycles 18.9. It is deliberately few: learning a few and meeting them again is what fixes them.

The level: a scale with declared CEFR equivalence

Every lesson declares its level and its CEFR equivalence. The scale has 5 levels and covers Pre-A1 to A2: the range where primary school lives. It doesn't stretch further because at this age it doesn't need to.

What you are told: progress, not surveillance

You see which words they master, which lessons they completed and how long they practised. You do not see — and neither do we — any recording of their voice: it is processed to give feedback and discarded on the spot. No ads and no third-party trackers.

The programme in numbers

None of these numbers is written by hand on this page: they come from the design of the programme and from the vocabulary ledger, and they describe how the course is built — not how many songs got recorded this week.

What this methodology does not do

It does not teach fluent speech. It builds vocabulary, ear and pronunciation in the A1-A2 range; calling that fluency would be a lie.
It does not replace the language class or the school. It is home practice, which is where a weekly class gets lost.
It does not measure reading comprehension or advanced grammar, because it does not work on them.

Not yet

Family testimonials: we haven't launched, so they don't exist. The day they do, they'll be from real people with names.
Measured learning outcomes: saying «your child improves by X» takes months of real use, not a promise.
Awards, press and schools using us: none of that has happened yet, and we're not filling the gap with logos.

This column shrinks on its own: everything that comes true moves to the one beside it. We won't delete it when it's empty — we'll fill it with whatever is next.
